Islamic Jurisprudence - Shafi
Islamic Jurisprudence (Fiqh) Islamic jurisprudence, or Fiqh (Arabic: فقه), refers to the comprehensive system of laws and principles derived from Islamic sources to guide Muslims in all aspects of life. It involves interpreting the divine commandments found in the Qur'an (the holy book of Islam) and the Sunnah (the sayings, actions, and approvals of the Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him). The term Fiqh literally means "understanding" and emphasizes a deep comprehension of the divine will. Sources of Fiqh rnIslamic jurisprudence is built on four primary sources: Qur'an: The ultimate and infallible word of God, providing foundational principles. 2. Sunnah: The practices and traditions of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him). 3. Ijma: Consensus among Islamic scholars on specific issues. 4. Qiyas: Analogical reasoning to apply existing rulings to new circumstances. Branches of Fiqh rnFiqh is divided into two major areas: rn1. Ibadat (Acts of Worship): Covers rituals like prayer (Salah), fasting (Sawm), almsgiving (Zakat), and pilgrimage (Hajj). 2. Mu'amalat (Human Interactions): Encompasses civil, commercial, criminal, and family laws, as well as ethics, finance, and governance. Schools of Fiqh Over time, various schools of thought emerged to address diverse cultural and situational contexts. The most prominent Sunni schools are:rn- Shafi'i Hanafi Maliki Hanbali
